AMTE BIPOC Mentoring Committee
Purpose: To continue the success of the Early Career BIPOC Mentoring program which aims for mentor/mentee relationships to be mutually beneficial and for mentor/mentee spaces to provide a sense of community, safety, and transparency, which are essential (and often non-existent) for BIPOC faculty in their home institutions.
The BIPOC Mentoring Committee is charged with promoting the mission and goals of AMTE by:
- Reviewing mentor/mentee applications to best match mentees with mentors who will provide advice, coaching, and advocacy for mentees as they become more engaged in the organization and their profession.
- Organizing and implementing the program each year, beginning with orientation that sets expectations for participants’ roles, responsibilities, and suggested meeting schedules.
- Ensuring the success of mentoring relationships with periodic check-ins with participants and feedback.
- Working with the AMTE Fundraising Committee to sustain the program financially. We propose that one of the members of the BIPOC Mentoring Committee serve as a liaison with the AMTE Fundraising Committee to ensure accurate information is provided for marketing and funding purposes.
- Work with the Treasurer to record mentor awards and financial transactions accurately.
