Advocacy Committee

Explores and examines issues that emerge either from outside of AMTE or its leadership that impact mathematics teacher education. The committee responds to the issues as needed or identifies AMTE members who have the expertise to review and respond to the issues, and then recommends actions to the President and Board.

The Advocacy Committee is charged to promote the mission and goals of AMTE by:

  • To be AMTE’s “ear to the ground” about current events that would be of interest to the membership and update the website as appropriate
  • To organize and facilitate the Advocacy Breakfast at the AMTE conference
  • To serve as a group that the President can request participate in responding to documents, etc that come to AMTE
  • When asked by board, to provide advice about what is important to include in particular position statements.
  • Preparing an annual report for the Board of Directors
